Conclusions. Speaking about the war, people always remember the brave soldiers who fought steadfastly for the fate of their country. Many of them sacrificed their own lives for our happy future. Only during the First Chechen War, about 5,000 Russian servicemen were killed. However, we must not forget that true heroism and fearlessness were shown here not only by soldiers, but also by medical workers. Anton Pavlovich Chekhov wrote: "The profession of a doctor is a feat. It requires dedication, purity of spirit and purity of thoughts." This quote can be safely attributed to Vladimir Alexandrovich Belov, who was awarded the "Golden Star" of the Hero of Russia on July 21, 1995. During the Chechen War, 6 military doctors received this award (4 of them posthumously). Belov was the first.

Vladimir Alexandrovich Belov was born on August 26, 1955 in the Vladimir region. In 1976, he graduated from the Murom Medical School, and later from the Gorky Medical University. Vladimir Alexandrovich himself asked to go to Chechnya in the third month of the war. At that time, he was a military field surgeon and understood that his help was important during the fighting. On January 7, 1995, Belov arrived in Grozny with the Tula regiment of the airborne division. It was here that the doctor first felt real fear. You can't get used to him, it was important to learn how to work with him. Under the leadership of Vladimir Alexandrovich, a medical center was equipped in Lenin Park. At first, the doctor performed operations in dressing machines. After one of the attacks, the medical center and the "operating room" had to be moved to the basement of one of the broken restaurants in the city. By March 1995, by the time of the capture of Argun, 50% of the regiment had been wounded or killed. Belov said: "We had only one task at that moment - to save the lives of the fighters." The flow of wounded was huge - more than 70 people a day. During one of the bursts of enemy shells, the doctor himself received a concussion, but still continued to operate. Belov had to pick up a machine gun himself, thereby covering the young soldiers. Vladimir Alexandrovich and his colleagues tried to do without irreversible operations, such as amputation of limbs, removal of affected organs. There was hope that the patient could be helped in the hospital. We tried to protect the broken fingers, shattered bones. Sometimes Belov had to connect the vessels with a piece of a rubber tube from a dropper, after that they were sewn up in the hospital according to all medical standards. Vladimir Alexandrovich did not have neurosurgical instruments, so when a soldier with a gunshot wound to the skull came to him, the bone canal had to be expanded with a dental elevator. During the war, Vladimir Alexandrovich also saved the life of his colleague, the doctor of the Yurginsky Motorized Rifle Brigade, Yevgeny Leonenko. The militants burned his armored personnel carrier when he was in a hurry to help in the positions. Evgeny is the only one of this medical team who remained alive. He himself could not explain how he managed to get out of the burning car with multiple burns and shrapnel wounds. Leonenko in 3 days got to Vladimir Alexandrovich's regiment through abandoned sewer pipes. On the way, he lost consciousness, was barely alive, covered in blood. In the first-aid post, he was treated for wounds and burns and urgently taken to the hospital at night. Leonenko was already treated at the Military Medical Academy of St. Petersburg.Vladimir Alexandrovich Belov was presented with the award in July 1995, but he was awarded the gold star on February 23, 1996. In 2006, the military doctor retired and devoted himself to educational work at the second Moscow Medical University named after N.I.Pirogov. It is important to remember and pass on the unique feats of doctors who worked without respite day and night to the next generations.
